Kon-Tiki – Hellfire@Home
While all cinemas and theatres in the UK are closed due to the lockdown we will be watching movies and theatre performances from the comfort of our living rooms. We’re happy to say that tonight we will be watching Kon-Tiki.
As part of our new remote festival, Hellfire@Home, we will share links to various movies and theatre performances so we can all watch them together at home. The first of which is Kon-Tiki an amazing Finnish movie from 2012.
“Kon-Tiki”
directed by Joachim Rønning
2012
Sunday 5 April 2020, 8pm
Synopsis:
Based on a true story. Norwegian adventurer Thor Heyerdahl (Pål Sverre Hagen) suspects that the South Sea Islands were originally colonized by South Americans. In 1947 despite his fear of water and inability to swim, Heyerdahl decides to prove his theory. He and five companions set sail from Peru on a balsa-wood raft built from an ancient design. Their only modern equipment is a radio, and they must navigate using the stars and ocean currents. After three exhausting months at sea, they achieve their goal.
While we are all watching the performance we encourage you to join us in our Facebook Group for a chat.
