Hellfire Short Film Festival 2020 – The Winners

The 2nd Hellfire Short Film Festival took place on 4th July under unusual circumstances. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we made the difficult decision to change how this year’s festival took place.

Festival in a Covid world

Instead of a physical event the whole festival was held behind closed doors and remotely.

The official selections were sent to the judges who individually watched the films and took notes. We then met via Zoom and collectively selected each winner.

It was a very tough decision this year as the bar was set very high and some amazing films were submitted.

And the winners are:

BEST FILM: ‘The Deal’ directed by James Lancaster

BEST DIRECTOR: James Lancaster for ‘The Deal’.

BEST SCREENPLAY: ‘It’s Not What You Do’ written by Tejinder Ahluwalia.

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: ‘The Deal’.

BEST ACTOR: Felicia Humphrey in ‘reAnimate.

BEST SOUNDTRACK/SCORE: ‘The Deal’

BEST EDITING: ‘reAnimate’ edited by Cillian O’Shaughnessy

CONGRATULATIONS to all of our winners and finalists and a huge thank you to all who submitted their films to the Hellfire Short Film Festival. We hope to get the trophies sent out as soon as we have received them (Covid has delayed the manufacture and delivery).

We hope the 3rd Hellfire Short Film Festival will return to the physical world, Covid-19 restrictions pending. In the meantime the call for entries is open.

You can submit your short film here.

The 3rd Hellfire Short Film Festival will take place on Saturday 3rd July 2021. Venue and times are to be determined.
