Gone for the final
A very talkative girl, a vanishing world, a World War 2 comedy and a wrap party gone wrong. These were included in the 12th and final qualifying round of the Hellfire Short Film Festival.
Over the past year we’ve screened 163 short films and after tonight we’ve whittled these down to 13 finalists (in one round we had two winners) and 24 semi finalists who will battle it out for the final three places in the Grand Final.
12th Round Linup:
‘Vanessa’ by Tyler Ritchie
‘A Dog Called Moose’ by Shay Kuehlmann and Kate Roxburgh
‘Goldfish’ by John Rees
‘Gone’ by Guillaume Foresti
‘White Agony’ (‘Blanche Agonie’) by Dominique Rochon
‘Knock Knock’ by Alastair Train
‘Bob’ by John Rees
‘The Bridge’ by Shay Kuehlmann and Kate Roxburgh
‘Poppet’ by Gregory Mandry
After each short film was screened the audience voted on six categories, Director, Acting, Editing, Story/Script, Visuals and Soundtrack. Each category was to be given a score out of five with the totals added up to give the overall score out of 30.
The Winner Is…
And the winner, with a score of 22.23 out of 30, and going through to the Grand Final is…
GONE
by Guillaume Foresti
(Paris, France)
“When an architect makes a hugely consequential error on a building site, his attempted cover up becomes the least of his problems. Unsettling and austere, Gone is a morality tale with mysterious and metaphysical consequences.”
‘Gone’ is our second French language short film to go through to the Grand Final after Laurent Ardoint’s ‘A Splendid Affair‘. Congratulations to Guillaume, the cast and crew of ‘Gone’.
The Runners Up and going through the Semi Finals are:
‘Knock Knock’ by Alastair Train (London, UK)
‘A Dog Called Moose’ by Shay Kuehlmann and Kate Roxburgh (London, UK)
Congratulations to all our winners and a big thank you to everyone who submitted their films to the event. Also a big thank you to our loyal supporters who turn up every month and make the Hellfire Short Film Festival what it is.
