The honeymoon’s over!
Another successful night and a truly global event. That’s how we could describe Wednesday’s Hellfire Short Film Festival 10th Round. The UK, USA, Canada, Spain and Belgium were all represented on a night where the films threw up a few surprises.
A WW2 veteran, Frankenstein’s monster and Christian newlyweds surrounded by dildos. The films really were at opposite ends of the spectrum.
The following short films were screened at the Hellfire Short Film Festival 10th Round:
(in screening order)
‘Devil Town’ by Nick Barrett (London, UK)
‘Sentience’ by SJ van Breda (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
‘E-delivery’ by Young Gul Cho (New York City, NY, USA)
‘Ace’ by A D Cooper (London, UK)
‘Bride of Frankie’ by Devi Snively (Cleveland, OH, USA)
‘Your Date Is Here’ by Zak White & Todd Spence (Valley Village, CA, USA)
‘Misappropriation’ by Ana Maria Ferri (Valencia, Spain)
‘The Honeymoon’ by Ruth Pickett (London, UK)
‘The Silence Between’ by Piet Meersschaut (Gent, Belgium)
After each short film was screened the audience voted on six categories, Director, Acting, Editing, Story/Script, Visuals and Soundtrack. Each category was to be given a score out of five with the totals added up to give the overall score out of 30.
And the winner, with the score of 23.05 out of 30, and going through to the Grand Final, is:
‘THE HONEYMOON’
by Ruth Pickett
(London, UK)
Watch the trailer here:
“A newlywed Christian couple go on their honeymoon to what they believe to be a quaint B&B in the Welsh countryside. But the cottage turns out to be a sex den, and events go horribly wrong.”
Ruth Pickett and her team, renowned for their comedic short films, are now triple winners at Hellfire Short Film Festival with their previous entries ‘One Under’ and ‘The Mishap’ also in the Grand Final.
The runners up who both join our Wildcard table are:
‘Bride of Frankie’ by Devi Snively (Cleveland, OH, USA)
‘Your Date Is Here’ by Zak White & Todd Spence (Valley Village, CA, USA)
Congratulations to all our winners and a big thank you to everyone who submitted their films to the event. Also a big thank you to our loyal supporters who turn up every month and make the Hellfire Short Film Festival what it is.
